Welcome to Flipside!

The website where all my thoughts and interests come together.

Welcome!

Hello everynyan and welcome to my new website Flipside. My name is Osaka_x86 and I am a (now  ex) YouTuber who mainly enjoys playing video games, watching anime, photography, filming things etc. I like creating things and I want to create more things with all the time I have so this website is going to act as my main tool for that going forward. Expect a lot of frequent updates to this.

"Why did you quit YouTube?"

The reason why I essentially decided to "quit YouTube" all of a sudden had to do with a multitude of reasons but the main one is that I was simply tired of the platform as a whole. I was tired of my feed, I was tired of the community, I was tired of the comments and what got popular and what didn't, I was tired of what I was seeing, hearing, watching every day etc. Yet still my desire for a platform and an outlet for creating and sharing my things in never disappeared. Looking back at it now I feel like YouTube was never going to work out for me in the long run. I'm still glad that I did start out on there because otherwise I wouldn't have met any of my wonderful friends I have now so that time definitely wasn't wasted. So in the end my efforts weren't a waste of time and I gained a lot of useful knowledge of the internet world and it's people and how it all works in the grand scheme of things. Nonetheless right now I just feel like I need peace. A platform of my own to share my thoughts in. One which has no comments, no views, no people to compare to because the platform itself is a creation of my own just as the things that are on it are.

My plans for this website

Generally speaking  my plans for this website as a whole are pretty ambitious. I'd like to have all sorts of cool things like streaming video for example here in the future which I will work on once I have built the foundation to everything first. First I'll most likely work on more basic pages like a blog or an image gallery though just to get started.  Right now though I have bigger mental challenges ahead like deciding on a style of some sort for this whole website. I don't want everything to look like plain old HTML after all. Still I'm most likely NOT going to be implementing a ton of fancy graphics or imagery per page because I want this to remain somewhat simple and lightweight enough to allow the access from older machines which I want to retain full compatibility with. I'm making this website using Microsoft Frontpage 2000 on my Compaq Deskpro EN rocking a Pentium III at 1000MHz straight out of 1999 so it shouldn't be too difficult to somewhat stay in the limits of 20th century computer hardware. Still it would be extremely cool if the site could run somewhat smoothly even on something like a 486 which is why I thought about making a "full version" and a "plain HTML" version of every page to really give mercy to the 0.000078% percent of people who are ever going to be accessing this website on their 486s running Windows 3.1 with NCSA Mosaic or IE 2.0 connected to dial-up internet through their 14.4k modems... Now that I think of it that doesn't seem too out of question for a general target audience of a website like this.
